Representatives from Mendel University in Brno participated in the international GastroTour project meeting held from 17 to 19 November 2025 in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Michaela Menšíková from the Faculty of Agrisciences and Kamil Prokeš and Richard Danko from the Faculty of Horticulture joined colleagues from Georgia, South Africa, Spain, and Portugal to explore innovative approaches to wine and gastronomy tourism.
The workshop, hosted by Stellenbosch University, Cape Peninsula University of Technology and Wine Creations company under the Erasmus+ programme, focused on strengthening university-industry partnerships and developing educational resources for students and professionals in the field of gastro-tourism. Participants discussed sustainability from farm to fork, skills development in the wine sector, and multi-sensory pairing experiences. A key outcome will be the creation of a self-assessment tool for entrepreneurs to enhance quality and competitiveness in wine tourism.
